    Today, November 11, 2018, is the 100th anniversary of the armistice that ended the fighting during World War I. To honor the heroes of that horrid war, and to break the long silence on this site, I’m posting part of the backstory to We Never Stood Alone.     November 9th, 2018 was the 80th anniversary of Krystallnacht, the first episode of mass violence against the Jews in Nazi Germany. Up to this time scattered violence and widespread economic oppression and affliction had been the norm, but from Krystallnacht on the Nazi machine would move more and more in mass murder. I recently came across a remarkable body of paintings by a Florida artist named Judith Dazzio. This link takes you to this series of paintings depicting various episodes in the Holocaust.
